A: Trying to keep your automated gate from causing damage or harm should be on the top of your list of concerns. Both the opening and closing motions of the gate must be considered. Usually a photo beam is used to reverse or stop the gate when an obstruction is detected. These are used where an entrapment area is present. In-ground loops are used to detect vehicles. Read an in depth discussion of this in our All You Need To Know Section, Most gate operators will reverse or stop if they are obstructed. Once again this affects pricing.

A: Once again pricing may correlate with the life of the operator. Getting what you pay for usually shows up here. Most operators should last a minimum of five years. Ten years is a reasonable expectation. There are many gate operators still running after fifteen to twenty years, but they are the exception. Lack of replacement parts, corrosion, and the cost of repair usually make it more feasible to replace them.

A: That depends on how far you are from your garage when you activate the gate. Usually the answer will be no. However, we may be able to provide you with a remote that will work both the gate and the garage door by adding a receiver to your garage door. Give us a call to work out the details
